Lake Weekend & The End Of Summer

This past weekend we headed to the lake and to be honest it was a little bittersweet. To me, this trip was the official end of summer. And even though I am so excited for fall, the fact that another season has come and gone so quickly, is always a little sad. This summer has been a blast because my little one is at that age where she wants to explore everything. The world fascinates her and it is so neat to be able to see things through her eyes.

We were lucky enough to be able to travel a lot this summer and we ended our summer vacations with a lot of fun at the lake. This was the first time both myself and the little had gone on vacation with the in-laws and we had blast….They wore us out! We kept very busy throughout the day and the little one loved every second of it!

The unusual thing about this lake is that there are no houses built on the lakeside. They are all up in the mountains, which makes for a spectacular scenery. We hiked to two different outlooks of the lake and both were breathtaking views. It was so serene and peaceful…that is until the little one started screaming “Mama!”

Midday, we went for a boat ride that took us around most of the lake and the little one slept for most of the ride. It was a super hot day so it was really nice to be able to sit in the shade and enjoy the breeze. This lake was man made and they had to destroy many homes and business in order to build the lake. So there are actually parts of houses and even car parts in the lake.

While we were waiting for the boat tour to start the little one kept entertained by feeding these ginormous fish! I had never seen a swarm of fish like this in my life! They were literally on top on each other scrounging for food. Then the ducks would just walk on top of them to try and get some food for themselves. I was a little afraid that she was going to fall in but luckily, her Aunt had a good hold of her!

After a fun day of hiking, sightseeing, boat riding and even a little bit of doggy time we headed back to our cabin to have some dinner and then passed out! Overall, it was such a great trip and a perfect way to end the summer…now I am officially ready to bring on fall!
